Sending announcements

An announcement is a one-way notice — a school-wide alert, a class-specific update, a parent-only reminder. Goes out by whatever channels you pick.

Where to find it

From the menu: Communication → Announcements.

Creating one

  1. Click + New Announcement.
  2. Fill in:

- Title — the headline. - Body — your message. Supports basic formatting (bold, lists, links). - Audience — All staff, All parents, All students, a specific class, a department, or a custom selection. - Channels — In-app banner, Email, SMS, Parent portal notification. Tick as many as you want. - Severity — Info / Important / Urgent (affects how it's styled). - Schedule — Send now, or schedule for later. - Attachment — optional PDF (like a detailed circular).

  1. Preview — see how it looks across channels.
  2. Send or Schedule.

Tracking delivery

Each announcement has a delivery report:

  • Sent — how many recipients were targeted.
  • Delivered — how many actually received per channel.
  • Opened — who opened the email or read the in-app banner.
  • Failed — addresses that bounced.

Keeping SMS costs under control

SMS is per-message billed. To keep your bill predictable:

  • Default to Email + Portal; reserve SMS for Urgent severity.
  • Set a daily SMS cap at Setup → Integrations → SMS.
  • Send only to verified mobile numbers.

Coming soon

  • Recurring announcements — set up a PTM reminder or weekly fee notice once and have it auto-send on a schedule. Today, scheduling is one-off per announcement.
