Resetting your password

Forgot your password? Here's how to get back in. Plus tips for keeping your account secure.

Resetting your password

Your Schoolwati account holds a lot of important data — student records, fee payments, salaries. This article covers how to reset a forgotten password and how to keep your account safe.

Resetting a forgotten password

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click Forgot password?.
  3. Type the email you signed up with.
  4. Click Send reset link.
  5. Within a minute, you'll get an email with a link. Click it.
  6. Set a new password. Log in.

The link is valid for 60 minutes and can only be used once. If you click it after expiry or use it twice, you'll see an error — just request a new link.

What if my email address is wrong?

If you typed your email wrong when signing up, or your email has changed:

  • If you're a regular staff member, ask your Institution Admin to update it from your staff record.
  • If you're the Institution Admin, contact Schoolwati support via the helpdesk.

Changing your password while logged in

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner.
  2. Choose Profile → Security.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. Type your current password, then the new one.

Picking a good password

  • At least 10 characters.
  • Mix of upper and lower case letters.
  • At least one number and one special character.
  • Don't reuse a password you use elsewhere — use a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain, Google Password Manager).

If you think someone got into your account

  1. From a different device (so you're not still on the compromised one), reset your password using the steps above.
  2. Look at the Audit Log under Administration — filter by your user and check for anything you didn't do.
  3. If there's suspicious activity (records you didn't change, payments you didn't make), contact Schoolwati support immediately so we can help you recover.

Coming soon

We're working on:

  • Two-factor authentication (a 6-digit code from your phone in addition to the password)
  • Active session management (see and end other devices logged into your account)
  • Sign-in alerts (email when someone logs in from a new device)

These aren't available yet — we'll update this article when they ship.
