Student leave requests
When a student needs to miss school (illness, family event), the parent submits a leave request from the parent portal. The class teacher or branch admin approves it.
Raising a request (parent side)
- Parent opens the parent portal, picks their child.
- Goes to the Leave tab.
- Clicks + Request Leave.
- Picks dates, reason (Sick / Family / Personal / Other), and optionally attaches a document.
- Submits.
Reviewing (school side)
From the menu: Students → Leave Approvals.
- Pending requests are at the top.
- Click into one to see the full details and any attached document.
- Approve or reject. Add a comment that the parent will see.
What happens after approval
- Attendance grid auto-marks the student as "On Leave" for those dates — no manual marking.
- Parent gets a confirmation email.
- The leave shows on the student's timeline.
What happens after rejection
- Leave is logged but doesn't affect attendance.
- Parent gets the rejection email with your comment.
- Student is expected at school — if absent anyway, they're marked Absent.
Cancelling an approved leave
A leave can be cancelled by the parent (if it's for a future date) or by an admin (with a reason). Past leaves can't be deleted.
