Reference lists (fee categories, exam types, etc.)
Schoolwati uses several lists across the platform — fee categories, exam types, grade scales, designations. This article shows where each one is managed today.
Fee categories
Tuition, Transport, Lab, Library, Late Fee, etc. — the categories that show up when you build a fee structure.
Where: Created as part of fee structures at Fees → Fee Structures. The same category name across structures rolls up to a single line on reports.
Expense categories
Utilities, Vendor Payment, Supplies, Travel, Maintenance — what you tag each expense with.
Where: Pick from the dropdown when recording an expense at Finance → Expenses. The starter list is built in.
Grade scales
How percentages map to letter grades (A+, A, B+, etc.).
Built-in: 10-point CBSE, 5-point ICSE, A-F US, Pass/Fail.
Exam types
Unit Test, Term-end, Annual, Pre-board, Practical — the kinds of exams you can schedule.
Where: Set as part of the exam configuration when you schedule an exam.
Enquiry sources
Walk-in, Online, Referral, Event, Newspaper, Hoarding, Social Media — where new enquiries came from.
Where: Pick from the dropdown when recording an enquiry.
Designations
Principal, Teacher, Coordinator, Counsellor, Driver — staff job titles.
Where: Pick from the dropdown on a staff member's record.
Leave types
Casual, Sick, Earned, Comp Off, LOP, Maternity, Paternity.
Where: Defined as part of leave policies at Staff → Leave Policies.
What's coming
A unified Reference Data admin page that lets you add, rename, or hide entries from one place — instead of scattered across the platform. Today most lists are built-in defaults, with category-style lists editable in the place they're used.
